There will be a Coaches' Meeting at 2:15pm on Friday, Sept 16

                                               At Durango, the meeting will be in Room 406
                                               At Green Valley, the meeting will be in Room 410

There will be a Coaches' Meeting at 3:45pm on Friday, Sept 16

Friday pool play at Durango, Green Valley and Foothill will begin at 3:00 p.m.
Teams playing at Green Valley on Friday must arrive at the school before 2:05pm
because school ends at 2:10pm and you want to avoid the congested traffic.

Durango has Homcoming on Friday, plus a soccer match after school.
As a result, the parking lot may be crowded, but there should be enough spaces.

The Play-in matches at Durango, Green Valley, and Foothill
start at 6:00 p.m. with the first and second place teams.
The third place teams will play at 7:00 p.m.
Each team plays one play-in match on Friday.
Teams do not have to officiate these matches.

Friday pool play at Bishop Gorman HS and Fertitta MS will begin at 4:30 p.m.
Use the second entrance to Bishop Gorman High School off Hualapai Way.
Drive past the football field, which is on the left, and park in the back side
of the buildings on the right. There will be a marked entrance to the gym.

The Play-in matches at Bishop Gorman start with the first round
starting at 7:30 p.m. The second round will begin at 8:30 p.m.
Please check your schedule for your team's starting time.
Each team plays one play-in match on Friday.
Teams do not have to officiate these matches.

Qualifying Rounds on Saturday begin at 8:30 a.m.
at Durango, Green Valley, and Foothill.

If your team plays in the the second round of qualifying, 9:45 a.m.,
your team will not have to ref the first round.

The championship match is scheduled for
6:00 p.m. on Saturday evening at Durango.

Each gym will provide a cart of 20 balls for each court.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR THE 2011 DURANGO FALL CLASSIC

THE TOURNAMENT RULES WILL BE NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL FEDERATION.

FORMAT:

The format for this tournament will be pool play and a Play-in to the Qualifying Rounds on Friday evening, and Qualifying Round and Bracket Play on Saturday. Each match will be rally scoring to 25, best two games out of three. Game three, if necessary, will be to 25 points. There will be no caps.

Friday:
There will be Championship Play-in Rounds following pool play at each site, except at Fertitta where the teams will move after pool play and participate at Bishop Gorman High School. The Play-in Rounds will include the first and second place teams from each pool, and they will play in a cross over match, i.e. Winner Pool 1 v. Second Pool 2. The winner of each Play-in match will be seeded in the Championship Qualifying Rounds on Saturday morning at Durango High School. The loser of this match will play in the Bronze Qualifying Rounds on Saturday morning at Green Valley High School. All third place teams will also play a crossover match for seeding in the Classic Qualifying Rounds which start Saturday morning at Foothill High School.

Saturday:
The winners of Friday’s Championship Qualifying Play-in Rounds will play at Durango in the Championship Qualifying Rounds. The winners will be in the Championship Bracket while the losers will play in the Silver Division.

The Losers of Friday’s Championship Qualifying Play-in Rounds will play at Green Valley in the Bronze Qualifying Rounds. The winners will be in the Bronze Bracket while the losers will play in the Competition Bracket.

The 3rd place teams from all the pools will participate in the Classic Qualifying Rounds at Foothill High School. The winners will be in the Classic Bracket while the losers will play in the Contender Bracket.

TIE BREAKING PROCEDURES:

Three Teams with Identical Match Records:

  • In a pool with two teams advancing and a three way tie in match record for 1st (in a 3-team pool all teams are 1-1 in match record).

The seeds for the tie-breaking playoff game will be determined in this order:

1. Win/loss ratio of the total number of games played in the pool: Games won divided by total games played.

2. Point Percentage: Each team’s total points scored divided by the total points scored by the team’s opponents in that pool.

3. Coin toss

• The #1 seed does not have a playoff game. The #1 seed finishes first in the pool.

• The #2 seed team will play the #3 seed in one game to 25 points, no cap, and the #1 seed will officiate. The winner will be second place in the pool and the loser of this game will be third place in the pool.

SPECIAL NOTE:

In case a team must withdraw from the tournament on Saturday, that team's last opponent will advance.

REFEREE ASSIGNMENTS:

Please provide two lines persons and two scorekeepers, as well as a libero tracker. If your team is late to your assignment, an automatic 5 point penalty will be assessed to your team in the first game of your next match. The work team for each pool is designated “REF” within the pool schedule.

On Saturday, the losing team will remain on its court to officiate the next match, with the following exceptions:

·         At Durango, Green Valley, and Foothill, no teams are required to referee the 8:30 a.m. and the 11:00 a.m. matches on Saturday.

MATCH TIMES:

Matches will not begin before the scheduled time. Matches may begin prior to the scheduled time only on Friday during pool play and only if both coaches agree to do so.

VOLLEYBALLS:

On each of the four courts at all sites, there will be one cart with 20 balls. If this is sufficient for your team, then you do not have to bring volleyballs.

WARM-UP PROCEDURES:

Ten minutes between matches, each team will have five minutes for hitting and serving.

PROTESTS:

If a protest is made, it must be made under the following guidelines:

·         Before the next ball is served

·         Only the coach or floor captain can protest

·         Judgment calls cannot be protested

Protest issues will be handled in the following sequence:

TRAINING SERVICES:

A certified trainer will be at all sites throughout the tournament.

AWARDS:

Team trophies will be given to the winner of the Contender, Classic, Competition, Bronze, and Silver Divisions, and to the winner, runner-up, and third place teams in the Championship Division. Awards will be given to 16 All-Tournament team members and to the Most Valuable Player.

ADMISSION:

Admission to the tournament will be $6.00 per day for adults and $4.00 per day for students.

COACHES HOSPITALITY ROOM:

There will be a coaches' hospitality room at all sites, except at Fertitta MS.

To Durango from I-15:
Durango High School, 7100 W. Dewey Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89113
From I-15 drive west on Tropicana Blvd. to Rainbow Blvd. Turn south (left) on Rainbow to Dewey Dr.
Turn west (right) on Dewey Dr., which is one block after Hacienda Ave.
The school will be on your right and the gym is near the football field.

To Durango from the 215:
From 215 take the Rainbow exit and drive north (right) to Russell Rd.
Turn west (left) onto Russell to Timber Creek. Turn north (right) on Timber Creek to Dewey.
Turn east (right) on Dewey. The school will be on your left and the gym is near the football field.

To Green Valley from DHS:
Green Valley High School, 460 Arroyo Grande Blvd., Henderson, NV 89014
Start out going east on Dewey Dr. toward Rainbow. Turn right onto S. Rainbow Blvd.
Turn left onto 215 East and travel for 5.5 miles. Take Warm Springs Rd. exit – Exit #9.
Turn left on Warm Springs Rd. and travel for 4.9 miles. Turn left on N. Arroyo Grande Blvd.
The school will be on your right and the gym is at the north end of the school.

On Saturday when the 215 has lighter traffic, to Green Valley from DHS:
Start out going east on Dewey Dr. toward Rainbow. Turn right onto S. Rainbow Blvd.
Turn left onto 215 East and travel for approx. 12.5 miles. Take Stephanie St. exit - Exit #3.
Turn left and travel on Stephanie north to Warm Springs, approx. 2 miles. Turn left (west) onto Warm Springs.
The school will be on the right approx. 1 mile and the gym is at the north end of the school.

To Foothill from DHS:
Foothill High School, 800 College Drive, Henderson, NV 89002
Start out going east on Dewey Dr. toward Rainbow. Turn right onto S. Rainbow Blvd.
Turn left onto 215 East and travel for approx. 14.2 miles. Take the exit onto I-515 S/US-93 S/US-95 S.
Travel approx. 4 miles and take College Drive exit - Exit #57. Turn left on College Drive and
the school will be on the left approx. half mile and the gym is at the south end of the school.

To Foothill from Green Valley:
Take Warm Springs Rd. east toward Stephanie St. Turn right onto Stephanie St. for approx. 2 miles.
Turn left onto 215 East and travel for approx. 1.4 miles. Take the exit onto I-515 S/US-93 S/US-95 S.
Travel approx. 4 miles and take College Drive exit - Exit #57. Turn left on College Drive and
the school will be on the left approx. half mile and the gym is at the south end of the school.

To Fertitta MS from Tropicana/Las Vegas Blvd.:
Fertitta Middle School, 9905 West Mesa Vista Ave., Las Vegas NV 89148
Travel west on W. Tropicana to S. Grand Canyon Dr., approx. 7.5 miles.
Turn left on S. Grand Canyon Dr., approx. 6 miles.
Turn right on W. Mesa Vista Ave. – School is on the left.
Enter the gym from the east end of the building.

215 to Fertitta Middle School:
Go west on 215 (Bruce Woodbury Beltway).
Exit on Russell Rd, EXIT 19.
Merge onto Brent Thurman Way 0.2 mile.
Take 1st left onto W. Russell Road. 1.1 mile.
Turn right onto S. Grand Canyon Dr. 4 miles.
Take 2nd left onto W. Mesa Vista Ave.

Fertitta MS to Bishop Gorman:
Bishop Gorman High School, 5050 S. Hualapai Way, Las Vegas, NV 89148
Go west on W. Mesa Vista Ave. to Hualapai Way 0.4 mile.
Turn left on Hualapai Way for 0.7 mile.
Bishop Gorman High School is on the right. 0.7 mile.

To Bishop Gorman from Tropicana/Las Vegas Blvd.:
Travel west on W Tropicana to Hualapai 8.1 miles.
Turn left on S. Hualapai and Bishop Gorman in on the right. 1.4 miles.

To Bishop Gorman from the 215:
Go West on 215 (Bruce Woodbury Beltway).
Take the Russell Road exit. EXIT 19 .1 mile.
Merge onto Brent Thurman Way 0.2 mile
Take the 1st left onto W. Russell Road. 1.6 miles
Turn left onto S. Hualapai Way 0.3 mile
Bishop Gorman is on the right.
