Pool play assignments for Friday, Sept 16

There will be a Coaches' Meeting at 2:15pm on Friday, Sept 16 At Green Valley, the meeting will be in Room 410 At Foothill, the meeting will be in Room 408
At Fertitta MS, the meeting will be in the gym foyer
Teams playing at Green Valley on Friday must arrive at the school before 2:05pm because school ends at 2:10pm and you want to avoid the congested traffic.
Durango has Homcoming on Friday, plus a soccer match after school.

THE TOURNAMENT RULES WILL
BE NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL FEDERATION. FORMAT: The format for this tournament will be pool play
and a Play-in to the Qualifying Rounds on Friday evening, and Qualifying Round and Bracket Play on Saturday.
Each match will be rally scoring to 25, best two
games out of three. Game three, if necessary, will be to 25
points. There will be no caps. Friday: Saturday:
The Losers of Friday’s Championship Qualifying Play-in Rounds will play at Green Valley in the Bronze Qualifying Rounds. The winners will be in the Bronze Bracket while the losers will play in the Competition Bracket.
The 3rd place teams from all the pools will participate in the Classic Qualifying Rounds at Foothill High School. The winners will be in the Classic Bracket while the losers will play in the Contender Bracket.
TIE BREAKING
PROCEDURES: Three Teams with Identical Match
Records:
The seeds for the tie-breaking playoff game will be determined in this order: 1. Win/loss ratio of the total number of games played in the pool: Games won divided by total games played. 2. Point Percentage: Each team’s total points scored divided by the total points scored by the team’s opponents in that pool. 3. Coin toss
• The #1 seed does not have a playoff game. The #1 seed finishes first in the pool.
• The #2 seed team will play the #3 seed in one game to 25 points, no cap, and the #1 seed will officiate. The winner will be second place in the pool and the loser of this game will be third place in the pool.
SPECIAL NOTE: In case a team must
withdraw from the tournament on Saturday, that team's last opponent will
advance. REFEREE ASSIGNMENTS: Please provide two lines
persons and two scorekeepers, as well as a libero tracker. If your team is late to your assignment, an
automatic 5 point penalty will be assessed to your team in the first game of
your next match. The work team for each pool is designated “REF” within the
pool schedule.
On Saturday, the losing team will remain on its court to officiate the next match, with the following exceptions: ·
At Durango, Green Valley, and Foothill, no teams are required to referee the 8:30 a.m. and the 11:00 a.m. matches on Saturday. MATCH TIMES: Matches will not begin before the scheduled time.
Matches may begin prior to the scheduled time only on Friday during pool play and only if both coaches agree to do so.
VOLLEYBALLS: On each of the four
courts at all sites, there will be one cart with 20 balls. If this is
sufficient for your team, then you do not have to bring volleyballs. WARM-UP PROCEDURES: Ten minutes between
matches, each team will have five minutes for hitting and serving. PROTESTS: If a protest is made, it
must be made under the following guidelines: ·

handled in the following sequence: 1. Referee on the stand 2. Head Official(s) 3. Tournament Committee TRAINING SERVICES: A certified trainer will
be at all sites throughout the tournament. AWARDS: Team trophies will be
given to the winner of the Contender, Classic, Competition, Bronze, and Silver Divisions, and to
the winner, runner-up, and third place teams in the Championship Division.
Awards will be given to 16 All-Tournament team members and to the Most
Valuable Player. ADMISSION: Admission to the
tournament will be $6.00 per day for adults and $4.00 per day for students. COACHES HOSPITALITY
ROOM: There will be a coaches'
